
Bhubaneswar: V Sriram, Managing Director of the Nudge Institute, met with Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Power, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, on Monday to discuss strategies for addressing distress migration in Odisha. The meeting also included Sushil Kumar Lohani, Principal Secretary of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, and Atul Satija, CEO and Founder of the Nudge Institute.
Distress migration has become a growing concern in Odisha, prompting the government to establish a task force led by Singh Deo. The task force is tasked with implementing immediate measures to reduce migration by creating sustainable employment opportunities for those impacted.
During the meeting, the Nudge Institute proposed collaborating with the state government to directly engage with migrant workers and help them secure income-generating opportunities based on their skill sets. Managing Director V Sriram highlighted the institute’s experience in tribal development initiatives in states such as Jharkhand and expressed a strong commitment to extend similar support in Odisha.
