Odisha Gears Up for International Yoga Day Celebrations Across the State

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to observe International Yoga Day on June 21 with extensive community participation across the state. This was announced during a comprehensive review chaired by Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services, Suryabanshi Suraj, at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

During the review, Minister Suryabanshi Suraj directed officials to organize Yoga Day events not only at prominent locations but also at historical places throughout Odisha. Emphasizing the importance of community involvement, he discussed arrangements to observe the day in district headquarters, blocks, and municipal areas to raise awareness and promote the practice of Yoga.

“Odisha has carved a special niche in international sports through the achievements of our sportspersons in various disciplines. The state government remains committed to developing sports infrastructure and nurturing our athletes to excel at the international level,” stated Minister Suraj. He reiterated the government’s dedication to promoting sports from grassroots levels, fostering young talents, and preparing Odisha to celebrate its 100 years of statehood in 2026 with a robust sports agenda.

Sports Secretary R Vineel Krishna highlighted the state’s efforts in developing sports infrastructure over the years, underscoring Odisha’s ongoing commitment to enhancing facilities for athletes across various sports disciplines.

During his visit to Kalinga Stadium, Minister Suraj also interacted with athletes and residents of sports hostels, inquiring about their training routines and the facilities provided to them. This engagement reflects the government’s proactive approach in supporting the state’s sporting community and ensuring they have access to world-class training environments.
