Odisha Gears Up for Grand Odisha Day-2025 Celebrations

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has begun preparations for the grand celebration of Odisha Day-2025 on April 1, with a state-level preparatory meeting held at the conference hall of Lok Seva Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.

According to an official release, this year’s main state-level event will take place at Satyabhamapur in Salepur, Cuttack district—the birthplace of Utkal Gaurab Madhusudan Das. The event will also be marked with celebrations in Bhubaneswar, New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, as well as at revenue divisions, district headquarters, and sub-divisional offices across Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will be the chief guest at Satyabhamapur, while other ministers, revenue commissioners, and district collectors will attend programs in various locations.

Development Commissioner Anu Garg, along with several principal secretaries, commissioners, and senior state officials, attended the meeting. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department, briefed participants on the planned programs.

The celebrations at Satyabhamapur and Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar will feature a special photo exhibition on the formation of a separate Utkal Province, public meetings, award distribution, and felicitation ceremonies. The Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department will organize cultural programs at both venues, while floral tributes will be paid to statues of Odisha’s eminent personalities.

Special editions of Utkal Prasanga and Odisha Review will be released to commemorate the occasion, and the main events in Satyabhamapur and Bhubaneswar will be broadcast live. Across Bhubaneswar, statues of prominent figures will be cleaned and their surroundings beautified, while government offices, corporations, and public sector buildings will be illuminated.

Emphasizing the significance of the day, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja stated that April 1 is a moment of pride and glory for Odisha, and the celebrations should reflect the state’s rich heritage and achievements. He urged all departments to ensure a vibrant and memorable observance of Odisha Day.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of the Works Department Vir Vikram Yadav, Tourism Commissioner and Secretary Balwant Singh, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Culture Department Director Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, and senior officials from the Information and Public Relations Department, among others.
