Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is intensifying preparations for the disbursement of funds under the fourth phase of its flagship Subhadra Yojana, with the first installment set to be released on December 25.
The scheme, which aims to financially empower women, has already distributed the first installment of ₹5,000 each to over 80 lakh beneficiaries across the state in its first three phases. As of December 1, a total of 1,05,36,612 applications have been received for the fourth phase, with authorities expediting the verification process to ensure inclusion for new applicants and those previously left out.
By December 6, lists of eligible and ineligible beneficiaries will be displayed at block, urban, and municipal levels. Following this, a seven-day window will be provided for grievances and corrections.
At a high-level review meeting chaired by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, the progress of application verifications was assessed. The meeting, held virtually, included Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department Shubha Sarma, along with district collectors and municipal corporation officials.
Field teams, comprising Anganwadi workers and Bank Mitras, have been instructed to assist beneficiaries in completing e-KYC, resolving fund transfer issues, and raising awareness about the scheme. Notably, 8,43,839 applicants, including both NFSA (National Food Security Act) and non-NFSA beneficiaries, are yet to complete their mandatory biometric e-KYC.
Help desks have been established at local offices to assist applicants, and a dedicated Subhadra portal now facilitates complaint logging, e-KYC completion, and an opt-out option for those who wish to withdraw from the scheme. To date, 18,735 beneficiaries have opted out.
Authorities are emphasizing a transparent and smooth disbursement process, reiterating that e-KYC services are free of charge. The government remains committed to addressing grievances promptly and ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries receive their dues under the Subhadra Yojana.
