Odisha Finalizes Draft Guidelines for Adventure Tourism 2025

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has finalized the draft proposal of the Odisha Adventure Tourism Guidelines-2025, marking a significant step toward positioning the state as a vibrant destination for adventure tourism. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Bhubaneswar.

Speaking after the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that under the vision of ‘Think India, Think Odisha’, the state’s rich and diverse tourist destinations will be developed with renewed focus. “Adventure tourism will be one of the top priorities of the state government, and we are committed to making Odisha a prominent name in the sector,” he stated.

As part of the plan, tourist spots across all 30 districts of the state will be mapped and developed to unlock their adventure tourism potential. Among the proposals under consideration are river rafting in Satkosia and hot air balloon rides over the scenic Hirakud reservoir, both of which are expected to draw significant interest from domestic and international tourists.

The proposed guidelines aim not only to enhance tourism experiences but also to serve as a vehicle for youth employment and skill development. The government plans to train young people in adventure tourism-related activities and provide them with certifications, enabling them to work in a rapidly expanding sector.

To further boost the initiative, private sector participation will be actively encouraged. The government will soon open registrations through its newly conceptualized ‘Go Adventure’ portal, which will serve as a single-window platform for interested individuals and companies.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Tourism Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Balwant Singh were also present at the meeting and shared insights on the roadmap ahead. Officials emphasized that the guidelines would incorporate safety protocols, sustainability measures, and structured investment models to ensure both environmental and economic balance.
