Odisha FC Women Create History, Qualify for AFC Women’s Champions League Group Stage

Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC Women’s Team has etched its name in the annals of Indian football history by becoming the first Indian club to qualify for the group stage of the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League 2024-25. The team’s remarkable achievement was sealed with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Etihad Club of Jordan in the final Group B match, securing their place in the prestigious tournament.

Former Odisha Chief Minister and BJD Supremo, Naveen Patnaik, congratulated the team for their outstanding performance. “May the team continue to shine and bring glory for the state and the country,” Patnaik stated, acknowledging the team’s dedication and skill.

With a perfect six points from two matches, Odisha FC Women finished at the top of Group B, becoming the sole representative from the SAFF region to advance to the group stage. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian women’s football, showcasing the team’s resilience and determination on the international stage.

Odisha FC will now face Urawa Red Diamond Ladies from Japan, Ho Chi Minh City FC from Vietnam, and Taichung Blue Whale Women’s Football from Taiwan in Group C, as they prepare to compete on Asia’s grandest platform.
