Odisha FC Concludes Inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League Campaign

Ho Chi Minh City: Odisha FC wrapped up their maiden Asian Women’s Champions League campaign with a 0-4 defeat against Taichung Blue Whale from Chinese Taipei, held at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.

Taichung Blue Whale dominated possession in the first half but faced resistance from Odisha FC’s tight defensive play, limiting their scoring opportunities. However, the deadlock was broken in the 40th minute when Chen Jin-wen found space in the box and converted the chance into a goal, giving her team the lead. Chen struck again before the halftime whistle, putting Taichung 2-0 ahead.

In the second half, Taichung continued to control the game, displaying their strength with precise passing and scoring two more goals from well-placed crosses, ultimately sealing a convincing victory.

Despite the loss, Odisha FC’s debut campaign in the AFC Women’s Champions League has provided valuable experience. The team now looks forward to regrouping and preparing for the upcoming Indian Women’s League 2024-25 season.
