Bhubaneswar: In a thrilling encounter at Kalinga Stadium, Odisha FC played to a 1-1 draw against FC Goa on Friday evening, maintaining their position at the top of the ISL table. Despite the draw, Odisha FC holds a strong position with 31 points from 15 matches, leading the league.
The early moments of the match saw the prolific Roy Krishna from Odisha FC opening the scoring just three minutes into the game. Amey’s precise low cross found Krishna inside the box, allowing the Fijian striker to confidently slot the ball into the goal.
However, FC Goa responded with determination, and Jay Gupta managed to find the equalizer in the 37th minute, leveling the score at 1-1.
Despite Odisha FC’s dominance in the proceedings, they couldn’t secure the winning goal in the second half. The draw keeps Odisha FC three points ahead of FC Goa, despite having played three more matches.
Looking ahead, Odisha FC will now enjoy a two-week gap before facing Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan on February 24 and East Bengal on February 29 in back-to-back clashes. The team aims to maintain its momentum and continue its strong performance in the upcoming fixtures.
