Bhubaneswar: Representatives from the Royal Indian Company met with Deputy Chief Minister cum Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, at Lok Seva Bhavan on Thursday to discuss the potential use of solar-powered pumps to improve irrigation facilities across Odisha.
During the meeting, the company’s representatives highlighted the benefits of portable solar-powered pumps, which provide a sustainable and cost-effective alternative for irrigation. These pumps can efficiently draw water from wells, ponds, and other natural sources, significantly reducing electricity costs for farmers. The Royal Indian Company has already implemented such systems in Jharkhand and other states, where they have successfully boosted agricultural productivity.
Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo appreciated the initiative and emphasized the state government’s commitment to improving irrigation infrastructure for the benefit of farmers. He assured that the government is focused on addressing irrigation challenges and introducing new technologies to enhance agricultural output in Odisha.
