Odisha Embarks on Visionary Roadmap for Centenary Celebrations in 2036

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is poised to embark on a transformative journey as it nears its centenary celebration on April 1, 2036. As the state marks 100 years of its formation, the Government of Odisha has launched an ambitious initiative to craft a visionary roadmap for “Viksit Odisha@2036,” aligning with the national aspiration of “Viksit Bharat@2047,” which envisions India as a developed nation by 2047.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, the Odisha government is committed to building a progressive and advanced Odisha by 2036. This vision focuses on sustainable growth, technological innovation, and social inclusivity, making Odisha a key contributor to the nation’s future development.

To guide this initiative, a State Level Steering Committee has been formed under the leadership of the Chief Secretary of Odisha. The committee includes senior officials such as the Development Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretaries from various departments, and Principal Secretaries from key sectors like Industries, Agriculture, and Finance. The Special Secretary of the Planning and Convergence Department will serve as the Member Convener of the committee.

This Steering Committee will oversee the creation of a Vision Document for Odisha’s centenary in 2036 and India’s 100 years of independence in 2047. The committee will consult with experts, including eminent citizens, Odia diaspora, and former officials, to ensure the roadmap reflects the aspirations of all stakeholders.

Six dedicated Sectoral Groups of Secretaries (SGoS) have been established to focus on thematic areas such as:

  1. Economy, Industries, and Infrastructure
  2. Social and Human Development
  3. Culture and Heritage
  4. Technology and Innovation
  5. Good Governance
  6. Rural Transformation

These groups will collaborate with policymakers, civil society organizations, academia, and industry leaders to develop sector-specific strategies. Their findings will be compiled into a comprehensive Vision Document, which will serve as a blueprint for Odisha’s development in the coming decades.

The Sectoral Groups have been tasked with submitting their reports within four months, and the Planning and Convergence Department will provide secretarial support to both the Steering Committee and the Sectoral Groups.
