Odisha Embarks on New Industrial Chapter with ₹25,000-Crore Projects

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s industrial landscape received a major boost today as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation for 27 new projects across 12 districts, signalling the state’s growing appeal as an investment destination. Together, these ventures represent over ₹25,000 crore in capital investment and promise more than 52,000 new jobs for the state’s youth.

The ceremony, held at the Convention Centre, OUAT, was organised by the Industries Department and attended by business leaders, government officials, and stakeholders from across sectors.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Majhi said the projects were a reflection of the industry’s confidence in Odisha’s policies. “Our vision is to make Odisha the manufacturing hub of eastern India. By climbing the manufacturing value chain and producing globally competitive, high-value products, we will drive both growth and employment,” he said.

The Chief Minister underlined his government’s achievements, noting that in just 15 months, Odisha has approved 260 projects worth ₹5.6 lakh crore, capable of generating 3.6 lakh jobs. Of these, foundations have already been laid for 84 projects involving over ₹2 lakh crore, expected to create 1.64 lakh jobs.

Majhi assured investors of a business-friendly environment, highlighting that red tape has been minimised and sector-specific incentives introduced. “The government will always extend support to investors and address their concerns promptly,” he emphasised.

In addition to industrial growth, Majhi called for industries to contribute to environmental sustainability. He urged them to join the state’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ initiative and announced Odisha’s plan to plant 75 lakh trees on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. “Development must go hand in hand with environmental conservation,” he said.

The foundation-laying was also conducted virtually for projects in Ganjam, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Koraput, and Angul districts. Industrialists associated with the ventures were felicitated on the occasion.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain credited Odisha’s policy reforms and efficient governance for making the state an attractive destination for investors. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja stressed on determination as a key driver of success, while Development Commissioner Anu Garg reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting industries.

With these projects, Odisha aims to strengthen its position as an industrial hub in eastern India, combining economic expansion with sustainability.
