Odisha Deputy CM Reviews SAFAL Initiative to Boost Agricultural Loans for Farmers

Bhubaneswar: A review meeting on the Simplified Application for Agricultural Loans (SAFAL) initiative was chaired by Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment and Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, at Krushi Bhavan on Friday.

The Deputy CM emphasized the need to expand the number of farmers benefiting from SAFAL in a time-bound manner, ensuring that agricultural loans reach the intended beneficiaries effectively. Highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting the farming community, Singh Deo urged officials to prioritize the timely disbursement of loans, enabling farmers to maximize their agricultural potential.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Cooperation Department, Shri Rajesh Pravakar Patil, along with other senior officials. The participants provided valuable suggestions to enhance the effectiveness of SAFAL, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone initiative for empowering farmers in Odisha.

Launched to streamline the loan application process, SAFAL aims to provide farmers with quick and hassle-free access to financial resources, thereby strengthening agricultural productivity and contributing to the state’s rural economy. The government is actively working to ensure that the benefits of this initiative are accessible to a larger number of farmers across Odisha.
