Odisha Deputy CM Parvati Parida Visits Bonda Ghati, Announces New Initiatives

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida visited the remote Bonda Ghati region in Malkangiri, assuring the tribal community of prompt action to address their concerns. During her visit, Parida announced several initiatives to improve living conditions and empower the Bonda tribe.

Parida revealed that an additional ₹50,000 would be provided to the Bonda people for constructing pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. She also assured financial assistance for all Bonda women through the Subhadra Scheme, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to reaching out to marginalized sections. A survey will be conducted to identify and include 2,932 beneficiaries previously left out of the Subhadra Yojana.

Listening to the tribe’s grievances, Parida acknowledged the pressing issues of inadequate drinking water, poor communication infrastructure, the absence of mobile connectivity, and lack of bus services in the Ghati. She promised swift action to address these challenges and improve the region’s infrastructure.

To support the preservation of cultural heritage and boost economic opportunities, Parida announced plans to establish a dedicated market space in Bhubaneswar for selling traditional Bonda costumes. Additionally, she proposed the development of Amakunda and Sitakunda as tourism hubs to promote the region’s unique cultural and natural heritage.

Despite challenging weather conditions, Parida traveled by road from Koraput to Bonda Ghati, where she interacted with local women at the Bonda Development Office. She held discussions with administrative officials and community members to understand their challenges, including delays in housing scheme implementation and lapses in Subhadra scheme disbursements.
