
Cuttack: Odisha Police Constable Anupama Swain was honoured on Monday by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania for bringing international acclaim to the state with her stellar performance at the 9th Jiu-Jitsu Asian Championship held recently in Amman, Jordan.
At a special felicitation ceremony held at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack, DGP Khurania congratulated Anupama for her remarkable success and presented her with a cash incentive. “Her dedication, discipline, and determination are not only commendable but also serve as a source of motivation for the entire police force,” the DGP said, while applauding her achievements.
Swain, currently posted in the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District, represented India at the prestigious championship from May 23 to 25. She secured a silver medal in the Contact category (under 52 kg) and a bronze medal in the Fighting System (under 52 kg), making the nation and the state proud.
Her consistent performance in martial arts, both nationally and internationally, has established her as one of the most decorated sportspersons in the Odisha Police. She continues to exemplify the values of perseverance, commitment, and excellence.
Senior officials, including Additional DGP (Headquarters) Pratik Mohanty, DIG (Personnel) Jugal Kishore Banoth, and AIG (Headquarters) Suresh Chandra Naik, also lauded Anupama’s achievements during the event and expressed their hope that her journey would inspire more officers, especially women, to pursue their passions beyond their professional roles.
