Bhubaneswar: A state-level sensitization and capacity-building training on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was held today at the State Institute for Women and Children, Bhubaneswar. The training aimed to enhance the effectiveness of workplace safety mechanisms by equipping Master Trainers to guide Internal Committee (IC) members across Odisha.
The session was inaugurated by the Additional Secretary of the Women Empowerment and Advocacy Section, who stressed the urgent need for safe, inclusive workplaces backed by strong institutional systems. Emphasizing the role of awareness and accountability, the official called on all districts to ensure thorough training of IC members for effective enforcement of the PoSH Act.
Participants included Sub-Collectors, Deputy Collectors, Project Officers, and Local or Internal Committee members from every district. The day-long interactive programme focused on enabling participants to serve as resource persons and advocates for workplace safety in their respective jurisdictions.
Anuja Gulati, Programme Management Specialist at UNFPA, led key sessions along with State Master Trainers. Together, they facilitated in-depth discussions on the legal and practical aspects of the PoSH Act and addressed real-world challenges raised by participants.
