Odisha Collaborates with AMNEX to Harness AI for Smarter, Proactive Farming

Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards digital transformation in agriculture, AMNEX, a technology firm specializing in artificial intelligence for geographic agricultural data analysis, has proposed to provide advance, data-driven information to farmers in Odisha. The initiative was presented to Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo during a high-level meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan conference hall today.

The move underscores Odisha’s commitment to equipping its farmers with timely and accurate information, aimed at reducing crop losses, improving yield, and ensuring sustainable farming practices.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo emphasized the critical role of information in agriculture. “Farmers, the backbone of our country, must receive timely agriculture-related information to reduce crop losses and enhance productivity. We are consistently taking appropriate steps to achieve this,” he said.

Artificial intelligence, he noted, allows real-time access to geospatial data and weather forecasts, enabling proactive decision-making in cultivation, irrigation, and crop protection.

Odisha has emerged as one of the leading states in adopting digital technology for agricultural development, said Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department. He highlighted that such innovations are paving the way for transforming smallholder farmers into prosperous agri-entrepreneurs, with Odisha setting the benchmark for digital progress in the sector.

AMNEX has already played a key role in technological initiatives like AgriStack, Digital Crop Survey, and the Farmers’ Registry under the state government. In collaboration with the Union Ministry of Agriculture, the organization is also providing technical assistance for 33 crops, reinforcing its expertise in the agri-tech ecosystem.

The presentation was attended by several key officials, including Director of Agriculture Shubham Saxena, Director of Horticulture Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, and AMNEX representatives Parijat Kumar Das, Nitish Thakkar, Jayendra Puwar, and Anand Parija.

The meeting laid the groundwork for further collaboration between the Odisha government and AMNEX, aimed at enhancing predictive analytics, crop monitoring, and farmer advisory systems through AI-powered platforms.
