Odisha CM’s Grievance Cell Resumes After Hiatus, 1,000 Complaints Registered on First Day

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s grievance cell reopened on Monday after a six-week pause due to the Assembly Budget Session and festive celebrations. Citizens from across the state flocked to Bhubaneswar to present their concerns, as the CM, along with officials from the CMO and various departments, addressed public grievances.

In a bid to streamline the process and manage the large crowds, the grievance cell has introduced a new system, accepting 1,000 online registrations each week. This update, officials say, has helped enhance the efficiency of grievance hearings and redressals.

Chief Minister Majhi began the hearing at 11:00 am and continued until 5:00 pm, personally listening to all 1,000 registered complainants. Several ministers and officials were also present, ensuring that each grievance was attended to promptly.

Among the day’s notable cases was Shankar Das, a retired civil servant from Angul, who felt he had been unfairly treated during his employment. CM Majhi listened attentively and assured him that justice would be served, directing the concerned department officials to address his issue.

Another complainant, Nirakar Naik, a 22-year-old disabled youth from Bhadrak, sought assistance for his medical treatment after being crippled by Japanese fever. Accompanied by his parents, Naik expressed gratitude after receiving assurances from the Chief Minister regarding medical help.

Ramesh Dhal from Koraput brought forward a case of oppression in his village. The Chief Minister immediately instructed the district SP to take swift action, ensuring justice was delivered. In a similar case, Sarojini Das from Khurda district, whose son was murdered, lamented that the police had yet to apprehend the perpetrator. CM Majhi responded by ordering the district police to expedite the investigation and secure justice for the family.

Seventeen farmers from Rajkanta in Kendrapara district also approached the CM, alleging financial mismanagement in the Varuna Primary Agriculture Cooperative. They claimed that two officers had misappropriated government financial assistance meant for farmers. The Chief Minister, affirming his commitment to supporting the state’s farmers, personally received their complaint and promised that the matter would be resolved.
