Odisha CM Urges New Recruits to Drive State’s Development at ‘Nijukti Samaroh’

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi called upon newly appointed officers and employees to play a key role in advancing the state’s development and ensuring the effective implementation of government schemes. His address came during the ‘Nijukti Samaroh’ held at the Lok Seva Bhavan’s Convention Center on Tuesday, where 282 officers and employees received their appointment letters.

The new recruits span three major state departments: Energy, Health & Family Welfare, and the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) under Steel & Mines. Among them, 79 were appointed as Assistant Executive Engineers in the Energy department, while 31 joined as Junior Clerk-cum-Typists under the Director of Drugs Control in Health & Family Welfare. Additionally, 19 were appointed as Ayurveda Lecturers under the Director of AYUSH. Several other appointments included 54 Junior Assistants at the Odisha University of Health Sciences, alongside 19 Junior Mechanical Engineers, 14 Junior Electrical Engineers, 16 Junior Civil Engineers, 9 Junior Pharmacists, and 30 Electricians.

Congratulating the appointees, CM Majhi praised their hard work and emphasized that their appointment is not just a government job but a “golden opportunity” to directly engage with the public. He urged them to stay committed to public service, uphold values of humanity, and contribute to the state’s progress.

“Our government is committed to creating a developed and transparent Odisha, where public confidence in government institutions is vital,” Majhi stated. He emphasized the importance of including marginalized, tribal, and downtrodden communities in the state’s progress, calling for inclusivity and equitable development.

Focusing on healthcare, CM Majhi highlighted the state’s increased budget allocation of ₹21,000 crore for the sector, marking a 32% rise from last year. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to expanding healthcare services in both urban and rural areas, while announcing plans to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana.

Looking ahead, Majhi revealed the state government’s goal of filling 1.5 lakh government posts over the next five years, alongside the creation of 3.5 lakh job opportunities in the industrial sector. He encouraged the new officers to work with honesty and integrity, reminding them to reflect on their own struggles to better serve the people of Odisha.

Several senior officials and ministers also addressed the gathering, including Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, and Steel & Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena. They urged the new appointees to stay resilient and committed to public service.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Health Secretary Ashwathy S., and Additional Chief Secretary of Steel & Mines Surendra Kumar. The vote of thanks was delivered by Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary of Energy.
