Odisha CM Urges Central Government Officials to Support State Development Initiatives

Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi called on senior Odisha cadre officers serving in various central ministries to assist in accelerating the state development proposals he presented at the recent NITI Aayog General Council Meeting.

The meeting took place at the Odisha Bhavan in New Delhi, where CM Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo, and Pravati Parida engaged with senior officials. CM Majhi stressed the critical importance of collaboration between the Central and state governments to realize Odisha’s development goals.

“To achieve the goal of a developed Odisha, coordination and cooperation between the Central and state governments are necessary in all areas,” said CM Majhi. He highlighted the significant opportunities created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Purvodaya’ plan and expressed optimism that with unified efforts, Odisha would reach its ambitious objectives.

During the meeting, CM Majhi outlined several key areas where Odisha requires central support. These include port-based development, the establishment of industrial corridors and parks, securing funds and approvals for railway and airport infrastructure, developing natural disaster-resilient infrastructure, initiating hydro storage plants for green economy development, promoting solar projects, establishing bank branches and ATMs in unbanked areas for financial inclusion, advancing the mining industry, expanding the railway network, attracting foreign investment for modern industries like semiconductors, and protecting forest resources.

The Chief Minister emphasized that government initiatives alone are insufficient for achieving comprehensive development. He pointed out that the newly formed Odisha government, which presented its first budget on July 25, incorporated feedback from economists, intellectuals, and over 12,000 online comments.

“Our government is a ‘people’s government,’ and opinions from all sections of society are welcome to design the framework for a developed Odisha,” stated CM Majhi.

Expressing confidence in the cooperation of Odisha cadre officials in key Central government positions, CM Majhi noted their critical role in turning development plans into reality. He underscored the importance of various Central ministries, particularly those responsible for project approvals, such as the Ministries of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Industry, Railways, and Civil Aviation.

“The door of our government is always open to your constructive feedback and full cooperation,” the Chief Minister affirmed. “We will have many more discussions in the coming days, and together, we will realize the vision of a developed Odisha.”
