Odisha CM Unveils Ama Hospital Initiative, Inaugurates 67 Transformed Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: In a virtual ceremony, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 67 hospitals transformed under the Ama Hospital initiative across 15 districts in the state. The Chief Minister also marked the occasion by inaugurating a 300-bed District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Subarnapur and a 100-bed BMRC Jharsuguda Cardiac Care Hospital.

During the event, Chief Minister Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the Sub District Hospital in Begunia, Khordha, aimed at providing seamless healthcare services to the public.

In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that the ‘Ama Hospital’ initiative has been designed with the utmost consideration for the convenience of the people. The primary focus of the program is to enhance patient convenience and improve healthcare services.

Patnaik expressed confidence that ‘Ama Hospital’ would herald a new era in the state’s healthcare sector, bringing about significant positive changes in government hospitals. He highlighted that the program is a result of proposals received during the district visits of the 5T Chairman.

The Chief Minister further underscored that the 5T initiative has played a pivotal role in enhancing hospital infrastructure, improving basic facilities for patients, and transforming service delivery methods. Looking ahead, Patnaik announced an ambitious plan to include 1,858 hospitals in the ‘Ama Hospital’ program over the next five years, with an allocated budget exceeding Rs 3,300 crore for the period 2023-28. He revealed that work is already underway to transform 149 hospitals.

Health Minister Niranjan Pujari, part of the ceremony, acknowledged the Chief Minister’s efforts in providing Odisha residents with facilities comparable to those in private hospitals within the government healthcare system.

The program, coordinated by 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian, witnessed the participation of people from various districts who expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the Ama Hospital initiatives.
