Odisha CM Reviews Textile, Defence Units in Khordha; Emphasises Local Employment Push

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday visited two emerging industrial facilities in Khordha district and highlighted the state government’s focus on creating large-scale employment opportunities and strengthening Odisha’s industrial ecosystem.

The Chief Minister visited the manufacturing unit of Trimetro Garments India Pvt Ltd at Kalibati and the defence and drone technology firm Anadrone Systems at Mundaamba, where he reviewed production activities and interacted with workers and company officials.

At the garment manufacturing facility, Majhi spoke with employees regarding workplace conditions, skill development opportunities and employment benefits. Workers informed the Chief Minister that industrial projects in Odisha are helping local youths secure jobs within the state instead of migrating elsewhere for employment.

The Chief Minister said the state government is committed to accelerating industrialisation while ensuring that local youths benefit from emerging employment opportunities. He stressed the importance of skill development and urged industries to prioritise local hiring and worker welfare.

He also directed industrial authorities to strengthen supporting infrastructure in industrial zones, including better transportation, accommodation and safety arrangements for workers, especially women employees.

Majhi said the government is planning modern hostel facilities and improved public transport connectivity, including electric bus services, for industrial workers in major industrial areas.

Officials informed that Trimetro Garments, a unit of global apparel manufacturer EPIC Group, has started production operations in India for the first time through its Odisha facility.

The Rs 376-crore project has generated nearly 7,000 jobs, with women employees forming a major part of the workforce. The unit manufactures apparel for international fashion brand Uniqlo, strengthening Odisha’s position in the textile and apparel manufacturing sector.

During his visit to Anadrone Systems, the Chief Minister reviewed the company’s defence and drone technology initiatives and interacted with CEO Anant Bhalotia.

He appreciated the role of the company’s drone systems in Operation “SINDOOR”, which reportedly achieved complete mission success.

The Chief Minister also inspected advanced defence equipment and systems being developed at the facility, including aerial targets, target launchers, trailers, ground support systems and drone control stations.

Majhi said the growth of high-technology industries in Odisha reflects the state’s expanding industrial capabilities and contributes to both economic growth and national security.
