Odisha CM Reviews Damage After Heavy Rainfall, Orders Urgent Relief Measures

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a high-level review meeting to assess the damage caused by heavy rainfall, following a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. The meeting focused on the severe impact of waterlogging and traffic disruptions in various parts of the state, particularly in the Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Special Relief Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh briefed the Chief Minister on the current situation and the ongoing efforts to mitigate the damage. They provided updates on flood-prone areas, rescue operations, and steps taken to alleviate the suffering of affected residents.

The Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the severe waterlogging, which has disrupted daily life and worsened traffic conditions in many areas. He emphasized that the situation in Koraput and Malkangiri was particularly grave, with people struggling to cope with the aftermath of incessant rains.

In response, CM Majhi directed state agencies to deploy ODRAF, NDRF, and fire brigade teams to swiftly address the crisis and assist in relief operations. He ordered the urgent stockpiling of relief materials in large quantities to ensure timely distribution to those affected by the floods.
