Odisha CM Propels Welspun’s Rs 3050 Cr Textile Complex in Choudwar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for Welspun Group’s complex in Choudwar, Cuttack district, marking a significant milestone in the region’s industrial revitalization.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Patnaik expressed enthusiasm for the transformative impact on Choudwar, reminiscent of its industrial glory laid by Biju Babu in the 1950s. He emphasized that this event marks a new era for Choudwar, Cuttack, and the entire state of Odisha in the realm of industrial development.

Welspun Group, a renowned global textile manufacturing company, is investing Rs 3050 crore in constructing an integrated textile manufacturing and warehousing complex in Choudwar, expected to generate 10,000 employment opportunities. This initiative is poised to enhance the state’s industrial landscape and create substantial business prospects for small and medium enterprises.

During the Make-in-Odisha program in 2022, the Odisha government proposed the establishment of this industry to Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka, who acknowledged Odisha’s progressive industrial policy and favorable environment. Chief Minister Patnaik highlighted that cotton farmers from districts like Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada, and Gajapati will benefit from this industry, underscoring the potential for women’s employment and skill development in the textile sector.

Chief Minister Patnaik extended gratitude to Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka for investing in Odisha, expressing confidence that this partnership will usher in a new chapter of growth in the state’s development journey. He assured the state government’s unwavering support for the industry’s success.

BK Goenka commended Odisha’s significant development over the last two decades, attributing it to Chief Minister Patnaik’s visionary leadership and tireless efforts. He praised the 5T initiative and noted that Odisha’s government schools, under this policy, have surpassed private schools. Acknowledging Odisha as a preferred investment destination, Goenka highlighted the historical foundations laid by Biju Babu for industrial development.

The event witnessed the presence of State Industries Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, 5T & Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian, MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, MLA Souvik Biswal, and other dignitaries.
