Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Unveils Rs 275-Crore Development Projects in Bhadrak, Promises Medical College and University

Bhadrak: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday rolled out a series of development initiatives in Bhadrak district, unveiling and laying the foundation for 13 projects worth Rs 275 crore. In his first major visit to the district after taking office, the Chief Minister laid out an ambitious roadmap for Bhadrak’s transformation, pledging new institutions, industrial growth, and heritage conservation.

Addressing a public gathering, Majhi announced that a government medical college — a long-pending demand of the people of Bhadrak — will soon be established. He also revealed plans to set up a government university in the region to strengthen access to higher education.

Focusing on the district’s industrial potential, Majhi informed that a technical textile complex will be developed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and MCPI Private Limited will establish a HMLS polyester manufacturing unit. These projects are expected to create jobs and attract further investment into the region.

The Chief Minister also promised the beautification of the birthplaces of freedom fighters and local martyrs, highlighting efforts to celebrate and preserve Bhadrak’s cultural and historical legacy.

Criticizing the previous administration, Majhi said the pace of development had accelerated since the BJP assumed power in Odisha. “Within 24 minutes of taking charge, our government launched Subhadra Yojana, offered additional Rs 800 per quintal input support for farmers, opened all four gates of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, and created a Rs 500-crore corpus for temple development,” he noted.

He further added that the government would present its performance report card on June 12, marking one year in office. Majhi highlighted that within the first 120 days of governance, projects worth Rs 80 crore were initiated, and on May 22, ten more industrial projects worth Rs 1.65 lakh crore were approved.

Reaffirming his vision of building a “Samrudha Odisha” by 2036, the Chief Minister emphasized that his government is committed to delivering development that reaches every corner of the state.
