Odisha CM Inaugurates Weightrack India’s Manufacturing Unit in Khordha, Boost to Odisha’s Industrial Push

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility of Weightrack India Private Limited at Infovalley-II in Khordha, strengthening the state’s expanding industrial landscape.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the success of the company—founded by an Odia entrepreneur—reflects the growing capabilities of local enterprises in emerging sectors. He noted that the firm has established itself as one of India’s leading players in smart infrastructure and AI-enabled solutions, emerging as the country’s fourth-largest weighbridge manufacturer.

Highlighting the state’s industrial momentum, Majhi said Odisha is undergoing a transformative phase, moving beyond mining-based industries towards “New Economy” sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, textiles, and pharmaceuticals. He informed that projects worth around ₹2.80 lakh crore have already been grounded, with the potential to generate more than two lakh jobs.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s long-term economic vision, stating that Odisha aims to achieve a $500 billion economy by 2036 and expand to $1.5 trillion by 2047. He attributed the state’s accelerated growth to Narendra Modi’s ‘Purvodaya’ vision and said the government is promoting industrialisation through plug-and-play infrastructure and decentralised decision-making by empowering district collectors.

He also touched upon women’s political representation, referring to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and criticising the opposition for not supporting its passage earlier.

Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik emphasised the role of MSMEs as the backbone of the economy and appreciated the state’s initiatives to ease access to land and credit for entrepreneurs.

Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta said Odisha has emerged as a leading state in MSME development, driven by proactive policy support and a favourable business environment.

The new facility is expected to contribute to industrial growth in the region while generating employment opportunities and strengthening Odisha’s position in technology-driven manufacturing sectors.
