Jaipur: Today marked a significant milestone in Odisha’s sports infrastructure development as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a sports complex in Jaipur, Koraput district. The event also witnessed the launch of 26 multipurpose indoor stadiums across 12 districts, promoting a robust sports culture in the state.
The sprawling sports complex in Jaipur, spread over 11 acres, features a natural football field, synthetic athletic track, gymnastics center with international standard equipment, swimming pool, two synthetic tennis courts, and a basketball court. The modern amenities aim to encourage young talents in Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri districts, fostering sports development in South Odisha.
Under the 5T initiative, designed to develop professional sports across the state, these projects play a pivotal role in enhancing the sports ecosystem from rural villages to urban centers.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his belief that the Jaipur sports complex and the multipurpose indoor stadiums would empower the youth and contribute to the growth of professional sports in Odisha. He emphasized the state’s commitment to building a talented youth society and recognized Odisha’s unique position as a global sports destination.
Sumant Narayan Sahu, Coach of the Sports Department in Jaipur, shared his experience, expressing gratitude for the new facilities. He highlighted how the sports complex would benefit athletes from the unincorporated Koraput district, propelling them to national and international acclaim. Swimmers, in particular, welcomed the state-of-the-art swimming pool, noting the positive impact on their training.
