Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to support farmers, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a substantial increase in the assistance amount for the contingent expenditure of Krushak Sathis in the state. The assistance amount has been raised from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000 per year, according to an official release.
This decision is set to benefit 13,600 farmers in the state, and the increased amount will be applied retrospectively from October 2023. Krushak Sathis, appointed by the State Government in 2007-2008, play a vital role in agricultural extension work. With two Krushak Sathis in each Gram Panchayat, their primary focus is to educate farmers on various aspects related to agricultural development. The increased assistance underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural community and promoting sustainable farming practices.
