Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to recognize and appreciate the crucial role played by temporary art and sports teachers in government Upper Primary Schools in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an increase in their monthly remuneration. As per the decision, the salary of these teachers will be enhanced from Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000, and they will now receive a salary for 12 months instead of the previous 10 months.
This decision aims to not only acknowledge the valuable contribution of art and sports teachers but also to improve their financial stability. Additionally, female art and sports teachers will now be entitled to maternity leave, aligning them with other government employees.
A total of 4,605 art teachers across the state will benefit from this salary hike. The move comes after these teachers brought their concerns and challenges to the attention of 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian, highlighting the need for better recognition and support.
Temporary art and sports teachers play a crucial role in shaping the holistic development of students by providing training in art and physical education in select upper primary schools in Odisha. The salary enhancement reflects the government’s commitment to promoting education and extracurricular activities for the overall well-being of students.
