
Bhubaneswar: Recognizing the stellar performance of para badminton star Pramod Bhagat in the Asian Para Games 2023, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore. Bhagat clinched the gold medal in the para badminton men’s singles SL3 event, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination.
Amidst a tough competition, Bhagat emerged victorious against his fellow contestant Nitesh Kumar, adding another achievement to his remarkable track record at the tournament, which already includes two bronze medals in the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 and mixed doubles SL3-SU5 events.
Expressing his admiration for Bhagat’s achievements, CM remarked, “Pramod is an exceptional athlete, a true example of unwavering determination. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to him. I am confident that he will continue to bring pride to our state at the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games.” The Chief Minister also pledged unwavering support to Bhagat as he prepares for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
In response to his recent triumph, Pramod Bhagat expressed gratitude for the immense support he has received on his journey and emphasized the significance of the Asian Para Games in his preparation for Paris. “I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming support I have received, particularly from the CM of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik,” said Bhagat.
