Bhubaneswar: Odisha has moved ahead with a major push towards infrastructure and service expansion through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with the Empowered Committee on Infrastructure approving five new projects worth around ₹1,130 crore.
The high-level committee meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, reviewed several proposed and ongoing PPP initiatives covering sectors such as healthcare, sewerage treatment, urban infrastructure, water supply, and animal vaccine production. The projects received in-principle approval during the meeting.
Officials said the projects are expected to strengthen public infrastructure while encouraging greater private sector participation in development activities across the state.
During the review, the Chief Secretary stressed the importance of timely execution and directed departments concerned to maintain strict monitoring and due diligence at every stage of implementation. She noted that PPP-based projects would play a significant role in attracting investment and supporting Odisha’s long-term development goals under the “Vision 2036” roadmap.
The committee also examined the existing pipeline of PPP proposals and asked project sponsoring authorities to ensure faster progress while maintaining transparency and efficiency in project execution.
In another key decision, the committee approved in principle a collaboration between the PPP Cell of the Finance Department and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The partnership aims to help Odisha build a strong pipeline of viable PPP projects and create a more investment-friendly ecosystem in the state.
Officials said the move is expected to accelerate infrastructure development and improve service delivery in critical sectors through enhanced private participation.
