Odisha Clears ₹869.8 Crore Investment in Renewable Energy Projects

Bhubaneswar: To accelerate its green energy goals, Odisha government has approved new renewable energy projects worth ₹869.8 crore, with a combined capacity of 178 MW. The decision was taken during the 12th meeting of the Single Window Committee (SWC), chaired by Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department.

The approvals include key solar and wind energy projects across Subarnapur, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, and Nabarangpur districts. Among the major projects, Prozeal Green Energy Limited will set up a 69.5 MW solar park in Subarnapur, while INOX Solar Limited has been given clearance for a 49.5 MW solar plant in Keonjhar. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) will establish a 10 MW solar project in Jharsuguda, and NLC India Renewables Limited will develop a wind power project in Nabarangpur.

With the latest approvals, the total renewable energy capacity cleared by the SWC has reached 1,844.86 MW, attracting investment commitments of ₹12,599.79 crore. Officials said the projects will not only support Odisha in meeting its Renewable Purchase Obligations but also contribute to national climate targets.

The Energy Department reiterated its commitment to fast-tracking green energy investments and emphasized the role of such initiatives in boosting local infrastructure and employment. The meeting was attended by senior officials from GRIDCO, OHPC, and the Renewable Energy Nodal Agency (RENA), who reviewed the proposals before clearance.
