Odisha Civil Supply Corporation Marks 47th Foundation Day, Highlights PDS and Farmer Support

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) on Thursday marked its 47th Foundation Day, with Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krishna Chandra Patra commending the corporation for ensuring timely delivery of essential commodities to beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Addressing the foundation day programme as chief guest, Patra said the corporation has played an important role in implementing the Food Security Act by ensuring that beneficiaries receive their entitled foodgrains through the PDS in a timely manner.

Highlighting the corporation’s initiatives for farmers, OSCSC Managing Director K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy said several measures have been introduced to make the paddy procurement process more efficient and farmer-friendly.

He said the corporation has adopted Aadhaar-based registration of farmers and put in place a mechanism to ensure that payments for procured paddy are made within 48 hours, providing farmers with faster access to their dues.

General Manager of the Food Corporation of India Nihar Ranjan Pradhan and Additional Secretary of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department Srikant Behura also highlighted various activities and achievements of the corporation during the programme.

The occasion also saw the launch of the corporation’s monthly booklet ‘Jogan Darpan’, aimed at documenting and highlighting its activities. Retired employees of the corporation were felicitated as part of the foundation day celebrations.

General Manager, Finance & Accounts, Bibekananda Das presented the annual report, outlining the corporation’s activities and performance, while General Manager Pravat Kumar Mohapatra proposed the vote of thanks.

Financial Advisor Debaraj Mandal, General Managers Ellora Samal and Pranati Priyadarshinee, along with other officers and employees of the corporation, were present at the programme.
