Odisha Celebrates 10th International Yoga Day with Grand Event at Kalinga Stadium

Bhubaneswar: The state government of Odisha celebrated the tenth International Yoga Day with a grand event at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led the celebrations by performing various asanas, emphasizing the importance of yoga for mental well-being and daily life.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Majhi underscored the significance of integrating yoga into everyday routines. “Yoga is essential for mental well-being. It is necessary to do yoga not only today but every day,” Majhi stated. He highlighted the state’s extensive preparations to celebrate International Yoga Day across Odisha, with ministers, MPs, and MLAs participating as guests in various events. “This will definitely help in forming a new Odisha and a healthy Odisha,” he added.

In a message on his social media platform, the Chief Minister expressed his congratulations and best wishes for International Yoga Day. “Yoga is not only a physical practice but a transformative journey in daily lifestyle, which is very beneficial for one’s personal and social health. Yoga should be done for the well-being of self and society. Do yoga every day and stay healthy,” Majhi wrote.

The event at Kalinga Stadium saw the presence of notable dignitaries including Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, and Sports Secretary R Veenil Krishna, alongside the Chief Minister. The program also attracted sportspersons and celebrities from the Odia film industry.

This year marks the 10th International Day of Yoga, celebrated under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.” To commemorate the day, the state government organized yoga programs in various cities including Cuttack, Rourkela, Berhampur, Bolangir, Konark, and Jaipur, ensuring widespread participation and engagement.
