Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Cabinet has officially approved the launch of the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana (MKY), a comprehensive state sector umbrella scheme designed to enhance milk production across the state. The initiative will span five years, from the Financial Year 2024-25 to 2028-29, with a substantial budgetary outlay of ₹1,423.47 crore.
The MKY encompasses various sub-schemes aimed at fostering the dairy industry, including the Buffalo Entrepreneurship scheme, Go-Palan Yojana, Go-Sampad Bima Yojana, and a calf rearing scheme. Each of these programs is tailored to address specific aspects of dairy farming and livestock management, ultimately contributing to the overall growth of the sector.
The primary objective of this initiative is to significantly increase the milk production in Odisha, benefiting approximately 1,547,837 farmers over the course of five years. By providing support and resources to dairy farmers, the MKY aims to enhance their income and improve the livelihoods of families reliant on agriculture and animal husbandry.
