Odisha Budget 2025-26: Rs. 41,273 Crore Allocated for Education and Skill Development

Bhubaneswar, February 17, 2025: The Odisha government has allocated Rs. 41,273 crore for education and skill development in the Annual Budget 2025-26, with a strong emphasis on school infrastructure, higher education, and vocational training.

Key Budgetary Allocations for Education:

  • School and Mass Education: Rs. 31,185 crore for infrastructure and academic improvement.
    • Rs. 2,960 crore for Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya.
    • Rs. 193 crore under the Gangadhar Meher Sikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana.
    • Rs. 997 crore for Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya.
    • Rs. 885 crore for PM POSHAN to support school meals.
  • Higher Education: Rs. 3,656 crore to enhance university education.
    • Rs. 45 crore for distribution of laptops to meritorious students under Godavarish Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana.
    • Rs. 30 crore for Odia University at Satyabadi.
    • Rs. 99 crore for Rashtriya Uchhatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).
    • Rs. 105 crore for Mukhyamantri Medhabi Chatra Protsahan Yojana.
  • Skill Development and Technical Education: Rs. 1,785 crore for vocational training.
    • Rs. 123 crore for the Odisha Skill Development Project assisted by ADB.
    • Rs. 59 crore for Odisha Skill Development Authority.
    • Rs. 135 crore for skill training initiatives.
    • Rs. 121 crore for infrastructure development of engineering schools and polytechnics.

With these allocations, the Odisha government aims to strengthen its education system, improve learning outcomes, and create a skilled workforce aligned with industry needs.
