Odisha Budget 2025-26: Rs. 16,273 Crore Allocated for Irrigation and Water Management

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has allocated Rs. 16,273 crore for irrigation, flood control, and water use efficiency in the Annual Budget 2025-26. This investment aims to enhance water management, improve agricultural productivity, and ensure effective flood mitigation measures across the state.

Key Budgetary Allocations for Irrigation and Water Management:

  • In-Stream Storage Structures: Rs. 880 crore to fulfill irrigation needs in critical areas.
  • Parvati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation (Phase 2): Rs. 1,318 crore to expand lift irrigation facilities.
  • Community Lift Irrigation Projects: Rs. 190 crore to revive defunct irrigation systems.
  • Mukhyamantri Adibandha Tiari Yojana (MATY): Rs. 350 crore for minor irrigation development.
  • Flood Control and Drainage Improvement: Rs. 1,036 crore for strengthening embankments and drainage networks.
  • Mukhyamantri Canal Lining Yojana: Rs. 430 crore for improving canal efficiency.
  • Modernization of Irrigation Projects: Rs. 240 crore under Nabakrushna Choudhury Secha Unayana Yojana.
  • Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY): Rs. 539 crore for ensuring ‘Har Khet Ko Pani’.
  • Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP): Rs. 1,786 crore for rapid implementation of major irrigation projects.
  • Water Sector Infrastructure Development Programme (WSIDP): Rs. 1,315 crore for enhancing water conservation.
  • Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA): Rs. 380 crore for sustainable water use.
  • Rengali Irrigation Project (Phase II): Rs. 300 crore for expanding irrigation infrastructure.

These allocations reinforce the Odisha government’s commitment to ensuring water security, strengthening flood control measures, and enhancing irrigation facilities to support agricultural and rural development.
