Odisha Athletes Shine at National Games with Two Golds and a Silver

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s athletes delivered a stellar performance at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, clinching two gold medals and a silver on Sunday.

Bapi Hansda emerged victorious in the Men’s 400m, outrunning Haryana’s Vikrant Panchal, who took silver, and Kerala’s Manu TS, who claimed bronze.

The Odisha men’s 4×100m relay team set a new Games record, securing gold in dominant fashion. The team, consisting of Lalu Prasad Bhoi, D Murty Jayram, Animesh Kujur, and Amiya Mallick, clocked 39.47 seconds, finishing ahead of Tamil Nadu (40.08) and Kerala (40.73).

This victory came just a day after Animesh Kujur won the 100m gold, equalling the existing Games record.

Adding to Odisha’s medal tally, Swadhin Majhi secured a silver medal in the Men’s High Jump, further strengthening the state’s growing reputation in athletics.

With these victories, Odisha’s athletes continue to showcase their talent on the national stage, setting new benchmarks in Indian athletics.
