Odisha Approves Seven Renewable Energy Projects Worth ₹1,386 Crore

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha state government has granted in-principle approval to seven renewable energy (RE) projects with a combined capacity of 192.41 MW. The projects, with a total investment of ₹1,386.09 crore, were sanctioned during the 8th meeting of the Single Window Committee (SWC) under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022.

The approved projects include a 99 MW wind power project, five ground-based solar projects totaling 91.77 MW, and one rooftop solar project of 1.64 MW. These initiatives are designed to harness Odisha’s natural potential for renewable energy, underscoring the state’s commitment to its green energy goals outlined in the 2022 policy.

Energy Department Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, who chaired the SWC meeting, emphasized the importance of renewable energy in achieving sustainable economic growth. He reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to facilitating investments and ensuring the timely execution of approved projects.

In addition to approving the new proposals, the committee reviewed the progress of previously sanctioned renewable energy projects. Senior officials from the Energy Department, GRIDCO, OPTCL, Electricity Distribution Companies, OHPC, and the office of the Engineer-in-Chief were also present at the meeting.

Highlighting Odisha’s proactive approach, the Principal Secretary noted that streamlined processes through the SWC and its nodal agency GRIDCO have significantly contributed to attracting investments in the renewable energy sector. This, he added, is paving the way for a sustainable and self-reliant Odisha.

Since the establishment of the Single Window Committee, the state has approved renewable energy investments worth ₹9,781.47 crore, targeting a total generation capacity of 1,441.79 MW. The latest projects mark another step in Odisha’s drive to become a leader in clean energy and sustainable development.
