Bhubaneswar: In a major healthcare initiative, Odisha’s Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced that women beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme will be eligible for cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh, while male household members will receive coverage of ₹5 lakh.
The scheme, set to roll out in Odisha this February, will provide beneficiaries access to cashless healthcare services at over 30,000 hospitals nationwide.
Addressing a press conference, the Minister revealed that approximately 3.5 crore residents of Odisha will be issued Ayushman Bharat cards, leveraging e-KYC data to ensure broad inclusion. “Efforts are underway to guarantee that no individual from economically weaker sections is left out of this transformative health initiative,” Mahaling said.
A Central team has already visited Odisha to streamline the implementation of the scheme, which promises to bring significant relief to the state’s vulnerable populations.
The Minister also emphasized upcoming advancements in Odisha’s healthcare sector in 2025, including the establishment of new medical colleges and the rollout of the Digital Health Mission, which aims to integrate and digitize health records for better accessibility and efficiency.
Reassuring beneficiaries of the state-sponsored Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana, Mahaling affirmed that their existing health benefits would continue without disruption, ensuring a smooth transition and complementary coverage under the new framework.
