
Gurugram: In a thrilling final match held today, NTPC emerged triumphant in the 23rd Inter Central Public Sector Unit T-20 Cricket tournament hosted by NHPC. The Power Sports Control Board (PSCB)-sanctioned event took place in Gurugram from February 19th to 24th, 2024.
The much-anticipated final clash featured a face-off between POWERGRID and NTPC, with NTPC securing a nail-biting victory by three runs. The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) claimed the Second Runner-up position.
Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel) at NHPC, awarded the trophies and medals to the victorious NTPC team and the Runner-up, POWERGRID. In his congratulatory address, Shri Lal commended the teams for their outstanding performances and commitment to sportsmanship. He highlighted the significance of sporting activities in nurturing a healthy mind and body. Expressing gratitude to all participating teams, Shri Lal also acknowledged the efforts of NHPC officials in ensuring the tournament’s success.
The tournament featured a total of 14 teams, including representatives from the Ministry of Power, NHPC, THDC, NEEPCO, BEE, DVC, CEA, NTPC, Grid Controller of India, Powergrid, PFC, SJVNL, BBMB, and REC. A total of 46 league matches unfolded, showcasing exciting cricketing action.
Individual excellence was also recognized, with Manish Sharma from CEA named the Best Batsman and Sanjeev Parmar from BBMB honored as the Best Bowler of the Tournament.
NHPC’s 23rd Inter CPSU Cricket Tournament not only provided a platform for spirited competition but also underscored the importance of camaraderie and sportsmanship in the corporate sector. The event marked another successful chapter in the ongoing efforts to promote sports culture within public sector enterprises.
