
NTPC and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) Sign MoU for Green Projects
New Delhi: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) have inked a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for potential collaboration in a bamboo-based Bio-Refinery at NTPC Bongaigaon and other eco-friendly projects. NRL, a subsidiary of Oil India Limited, is primarily involved in refining and marketing petroleum products.
The MoU, signed on January 30, 2024, paves the way for the two Central Public Sector Enterprises to expand their presence in green chemicals and explore sustainable solutions, aligning with India’s Net-Zero targets. The collaboration aims to contribute to the development of the North Eastern Region.
The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC; Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD of Oil India Limited & Chairman of NRL; and Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, MD of NRL.
NTPC is dedicated to achieving 60 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by 2032 and actively engaging in green initiatives such as Green Hydrogen, Biofuels, Carbon Capture, and Hydrogen Mobility. This collaboration with NRL is expected to further enhance their commitment to sustainable practices and contribute to the nation’s environmental goals.
