Noted Journalist Basudev Mahapatra is no more

Bhubaneswar: Noted journalist Basudev Mahapatra passed away in Bhubaneswar, today. He is survived by his wife Sujata, who works as a senior reporter with an Odia news channel, and their son.

Mahapatra was sick for the last few days and he complained of severe chest pain in the morning. He was immediately admitted to Capital Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

A native of Balugaon of Khordha district, Mahapatra started journalism from print media. Later he worked in broadcast medium and also served as Editor of Naxatra News. He also ran his own web news portal and freelanced for various national, international and local news portals websites.

Known for his grassroots-level development reports and environment issues, his articles were published in web portals like The Wire, Village Square, Better India, The Print, Down to Earth among others.

He was cremated in Puri later in the evening today.
