Nominations for Padma Awards 2025 Open

New Delhi: The Government of India has announced that nominations and recommendations for the prestigious Padma Awards 2025 have commenced from May 1, 2024. The last date for submissions is September 15, 2024. Nominations are to be submitted online via the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in).

The Padma Awards, which include the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, are among India’s highest civilian honors. Established in 1954, these awards recognize distinguished and exceptional achievements across various fields such as Art, Literature, Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, and Trade and Industry. Notably, these awards are announced annually on Republic Day.

In line with the government’s vision to transform the Padma Awards into “People’s Padma,” citizens are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals, including self-nominations. Special emphasis is placed on identifying talent from women, weaker sections of society, SCs and STs, divyang (differently-abled) persons, and those providing selfless service to society.

Eligible nominees include individuals from all backgrounds, with the exception of government servants (excluding doctors and scientists). Nominations must include comprehensive details as specified in the online format, along with a citation (maximum 800 words) highlighting the nominee’s distinguished and exceptional achievements in their respective field.

Further information can be found under the ‘Awards and Medals’ section on the Ministry of Home Affairs website (https://mha.gov.in) and the Padma Awards Portal (https://padmaawards.gov.in). The statutes and rules governing these awards are also available online at https://padmaawards.gov.in/AboutAwards.aspx.

The government invites all citizens to participate in this noble endeavor to honor the nation’s finest.
