
Bhubaneswar: The popular tribal paintings of Saora, Kolha, Lanjia Saora, Dongria Kondha, Gond, Juang, Oraon, Kutia Kondha, and Santhal tribes have been approved to be included in the list of handicrafts in Odisha.
The Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts minister Rita Sahu has approved the proposal of the Directorate of Handicrafts to provide handicraft status to these nine tribal paintings.
Some prominent crafts like appliqué work, silverware, filigree work, terracotta, pottery, golden grass work, horn work, sarees, pattachitra, palm leaf engravings, stone, woodworks among others are already included in the list.
