
Puri: In a significant development for rail commuters, the regular service of the Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express is set to commence from February 8, 2024, departing from Puri, and from February 9, 2024, departing from Sonepur. The inaugural run of the train was ceremoniously flagged off by Prime Minister on February 3, 2024.
The train, numbered 18421 Puri-Sonepur Weekly Express, will depart from Puri every Thursday at 19:35 hrs (07:35 p.m.) and is scheduled to reach Sonepur at 05:30 hrs every Friday.
On its return journey, the 18422 Sonepur-Puri Express will leave from Sonepur every Friday at 19:30 hrs (07:30 p.m.) and reach Puri at 06:55 hrs every Saturday.
The train will make stoppages at key stations such as Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Naraj Marthapur, Dhenkanal, Talcher, Angul, Boinda, Rairakhol, Sambalpur, Bargarh Road, Balangir, Bichhupali, Jhartarbha, and Narasinghgarh in both directions.
Comprising One AC-2 Tier, Seven AC-3 Tier, One AC-3 Tier Economy, Six Sleeper Class, Three Second Class Seating, One Guard, Luggage cum Divyangjan Coach, and One Guard, Luggage & Motor Coach, the Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express aims to enhance connectivity between these important destinations and cater to the growing travel demands.
This new train service is expected to benefit passengers by providing a convenient and efficient travel option between Puri and Sonepur, contributing to the overall improvement of rail connectivity in the region.
