New Delhi: Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister announced a groundbreaking initiative aimed at bringing electricity to over 5,000 households belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG). The New Solar Power Scheme, introduced under PM JANMAN, allocates a substantial budget of Rs. 515 crores to electrify all un-electrified PVTG households through off-grid solar systems.
This ambitious scheme also includes provisions for solar lighting in 1500 Multi-Purpose Centres (MPCs) situated in PVTG areas. The focus on renewable energy adoption aligns with the government’s commitment to rural electrification and the comprehensive enhancement of India’s power infrastructure.
Furthermore, as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), proposals amounting to Rs. 813 crores have been sanctioned for household electrification works in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. Under PM-JANMAN, 87,863 households across 7,113 habitations have been sanctioned for on-grid electrification.
These strategic initiatives demonstrate the government’s resolute commitment to providing electricity to vulnerable communities, fostering sustainable energy practices, and bolstering the overall power infrastructure across the nation.
