New MEMU Train and Passenger Line Inaugurated in Balasore by Railway Minister

Bhubaneswar: Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, inaugurated the Gopinathpur Nilgiri – Balasore new MEMU train service and dedicated the Balasore-Gopinathpur Nilgiri passenger line to the nation. The vibrant ceremony took place at Gopinathpur Nilgiri Railway Station, showcasing a significant milestone in the expansion of railway connectivity in the state of Odisha.

Congratulating the local residents of Gopinathpur Nilgiri, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the commitment of Indian Railways to extend the railway network in Odisha. The new station building, passenger line, and MEMU service aim to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother travel for the people of the region. The inaugural function saw the presence of Pratap Chandra Sarangi, MP, and Sukanta Kumar Nayak, MLA.

The new MEMU train service will operate three pairs of trains daily, with regular runs commencing from January 14, 2024. All MEMU trains will make stops at Sutei Badagan station en route, enhancing accessibility for commuters.

Subsequently, at Betnoti station, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw laid the foundation stone for a subway, a crucial addition to provide enhanced passenger amenities. The subway, once constructed, will facilitate seamless entry and exit for passengers, ensuring free movement for local residents. The inauguration also featured the opening of a new Passenger Reservation System (PRS) Counter at Betnoti Station, offering convenient and time-saving ticket booking facilities for the local community.

Bishweswar Tudu, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, MP, and Sanatan Bijuli, MLA, joined the function at Betnoti. Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, extended a warm welcome to the Railway Minister and other guests at both the Gopinathpur Nilgiri and Betnoti events. K R Chaudhary, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur, and other principal officers of South Eastern Railway graced the occasions, marking the significance of the railway developments in the region.
