Mangalore: The 5th edition of the Indian Open of Surfing (IOS), a prestigious national surfing competition, is set to kick off from May 31 to June 02 at the scenic Sasihithlu Beach in Mangalore. Organized by the Surfing Swami Foundation and hosted by the Mantra Surf Club, in collaboration with the Surfing Federation of India (SFI), the Indian Open of Surfing has garnered significant corporate support, with Karnataka Tourism signing on as event partners for the fifth consecutive year. Cycle Pure Agarbatti joins as the ‘Powered by’ sponsor, while Explurger comes on board as the exclusive Social Media App partner for the first time.

Dr. Venkata Ramana Akkaraju, Chairman of the New Mangalore Port Authority, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the potential of surfing to promote tourism and stimulate economic growth in the region. The collaboration underscores the authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to community development.

Mullai Muhilan, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshin Kannada, lauded the efforts of the Karnataka government and Karnataka Tourism in promoting surfing and fostering tourism development. He extended his best wishes to the organizers and participants for a successful event.

Echoing these sentiments, Arjun Ranga, Managing Partner of NR Group & Managing Director of Cycle Pure Agarbatti, emphasized the importance of preserving the ecological surroundings and empowering local communities. He expressed hope for India’s continued growth in the sport of surfing.

Jitin Bhatia, Founder & CEO of Explurger, shared his excitement about partnering with the Surfing Federation of India, highlighting Explurger’s dedication to celebrating exploration and adventure. He extended his best wishes to all participants and anticipated further collaborations in the future.

The Indian Open of Surfing will serve as the second stop of the National Championship series in the 2024 calendar year, following the International Surfing Festival Kerala 2024 held in March at Varkala Beach. With surfers from the east and west coasts set to compete fiercely for crucial ranking points, the event promises intense rivalry and thrilling displays of surfing prowess.

As the anticipation builds for the 5th Indian Open of Surfing, enthusiasts and participants alike eagerly await the exhilarating competition and the opportunity to showcase their talent on the waves of Sasihithlu Beach.
