NCGG Launches 6th Capacity Building Program for Sri Lankan Civil Servants

New Delhi: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) inaugurated its 6th Capacity Building Program for mid-career Sri Lankan civil servants on Monday. This two-week initiative, running from December 9 to December 20, 2024, aims to foster cross-border collaboration and skill enhancement in governance.

The program features 40 participants, including Divisional Secretaries, Assistant Divisional Secretaries, and officials from key ministries such as Public Administration, Home Affairs, Agriculture, Livestock, and Health, alongside representatives from the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA).

During the inaugural session, NCGG Director General Dr. Surendra Kumar Bagde welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the program’s aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of governance, public administration, and India’s best practices.

Dr. Bagde highlighted that the sessions will focus on critical areas such as healthcare policies, urban waste management systems, and leveraging technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to improve governance. He also underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing between India and Sri Lanka.

The program includes sessions on topics such as e-Governance, Ayushman Bharat, climate change, Aadhar implementation, and real estate regulations. Participants will also visit key institutions like the Forest Research Institute (FRI), Cyber Security Cell in Noida, and the PM Gati Shakti Anubhuti Kendra. Field trips to the Taj Mahal and Bharat Mandap are also part of the itinerary to provide a holistic learning experience.

NCGG has trained 214 senior Sri Lankan officers to date and has also extended its capacity-building efforts to 34 nations, including Malaysia, Kenya, Nepal, and South Africa. Established in 2014, NCGG is dedicated to enhancing governance capabilities within India and globally.
