NCGG Commences Special Capacity Building Programme for Bangladeshi Deputy Commissioners in Delhi

New Delhi: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) has launched a one-week Special Capacity Building Programme on Public Policy and Governance for 16 Deputy Commissioners of Bangladesh. The training session, taking place from July 15, 2024, to July 20, 2024, aims to foster international collaboration and enhance governance skills.

The programme commenced with an inaugural session addressed by V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG and Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). During his address, Srinivas presented the Scheme for Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration, emphasizing India’s commitment to recognizing meritocracy at the district level and promoting good governance. The exemplary work of Indian District Collectors in implementing priority sector programs using a saturation approach was also highlighted.

An interactive session between the Deputy Commissioners of Bangladesh and the District Collectors of India is expected to yield mutually beneficial insights, promoting the exchange of best practices and innovations. Deputy Commissioner and Team Leader, Mr. Rafiqul Islam, expressed gratitude to the Government of India and NCGG for organizing the comprehensive training program.

Dr. A.P. Singh, Course Coordinator and Associate Professor at NCGG, provided an overview of the programme during the inauguration. He outlined the week-long curriculum, which includes interactions with senior Indian secretaries on various topics such as Vigilance Administration, Urban Development, Land Records Modernization, Health Governance, Innovation Districts, and India-Bangladesh Relations. The programme also features visits to heritage sites in Delhi and the Taj Mahal in Agra.

The Honorable Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Government of India, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will interact with the Deputy Commissioners of Bangladesh on July 18, 2024. This engagement is anticipated to further strengthen the bilateral relationship and facilitate the sharing of governance experiences.

Key figures participating in the interactions include Rohit Anand, Director DARPG, Chief Administrative Officer Prisca Poly Matthew, and Associate Professor Dr. Himashi Rastogi. The entire capacity building programme is supervised by Dr. A.P. Singh, Course Coordinator, Dr. Gazala Hasan, Associate Course Coordinator, and Sanjay Dutt Pant, Training Assistant.
